Maria Robinson is classically trained fiber art artist and oil painter. Her contemporary approach is based on the old Gobelin technique learned at the eastern European School of Fine Arts in Poland. To weave her tapestries she utilizes wool, sisal, raffia and yuca ropes to create her tapestry art and design.
She uses many different mediums, such as wool, oils, and even natural found objects to inspire her tapestry designs. First she captures a moment with a camera and then uses her art and design talents to bring texture to an otherwise flat memory. Utilizing sketches, painting and fiber, each idea manifests its own character throughout the process.
Her tapestry art and design is a mirror of nature; exaggerated, twisted and overexposed moments kept in mind and transformed into the process of weaving, paintings and digital photography.
